TransCanada announces $1.7B Gas Pipeline Project

TransCanada Corp. said Wednesday that it will move ahead with a CA$1.9 billion ($1.7 billion) pipeline project in British Columbia that will ship natural gas toward the Pacific Coast for potential liquefaction and export, after inking shipping deals with Chevron Corp. and Apache Corp. The proposed Merrick Mainline Pipeline Project, an extension of TransCanada’s sprawling NGTL pipeline system, will transport natural gas 161 miles from Dawson Creek, British Columbia to Summit Lake, British Columbia. It will then hook up with Chevron and Apache’s proposed Pacific Trail Pipeline, which will terminate at their planned Kitimat LNG Terminal in Kitimat, British Columbia.
